What’s more, this Black Friday Amazon has slashed the price of some of Huawei’s latest and greatest handsets, making them an absolute steal.

Black Friday Huawei P30 deals
The P30 is Huawei’s latest series of flagship smartphones. It’s split into three key handsets, the vanilla Huawei P30, top end P30 Pro and mid-range P30 Lite. Sadly, there aren’t any great Huawei P30 deals currently running, but there are cracking savings to be had on the Pro and Lite.
If you want the best of the best we’d recommend grabbing the Pro. The current deal lops a massive £250 off one of THE best camera-phones on the market and is the cheapest we’ve seen the P30 Pro sell for all year. If that wasn’t enough to tempt you, the deal also gets you a free case.
If you’re on a budget, you could do a lot worse than the Huawei P30 Lite, though. The phone shares the same core DNA that makes the regular P30 and Pro great, with only a few compromises.
As we noted in our Huawei P30 Lite review: “If you want class and some high-end surface thrills at a sensible price, the Huawei P30 Lite is one of the best phones you can buy.”
Black Friday 5G Huawei phone deals
If you’re looking to make the jump to 5G you’ll be pleased to hear Amazon’s chopped a massive £200 off the Huawei Mate 20X 5G’s price. This lets you grab the 5G blower for a modest £799.99.
The phone may not be part of Huawei’s newer Mate 30 family of phones, but it’s still a pretty impressive bit of hardware, featuring a top notch triple-sensor camera, stellar screen and super fast components that’ll run even the most demanding of 3D games.
Black Friday Honor phone deals
After something a little cheaper? Then you may want to consider picking up one of Huawei subsidiary Honor’s handsets. Amazon’s currently offering big discounts on the Honor 20 Pro and Honor 10 Lite.
The Honor 20 Pro combines some of the imaging tech seen on its Huawei siblings with a distinctly Samsung-like hole-punch notch design.
The Honor 10 Lite is a Moto G rival and one of the best phones you’ll get for less than £100. Be warned though, its CPU is a little on the sluggish side, so you’ll probably be better off investing in the P30 Lite or Honor 20 Pro if you can afford to.

Amazon Prime on Black Friday 2019
As with any sale, quick delivery is still very much welcome when purchasing goods. You can get unlimited one-day delivery across millions of items, and in certain areas you can even get same day delivery and 1 or 2-hour delivery through Prime, for absolutely nothing for the first 30 days.
If you order a lot and are in a hurry, this alone can make Prime membership worthwhile. We’ve lost count the number of times we’ve had to rely on speedy delivery to get us out of a bind.

Then there’s Prime Video, which features streaming movies like John Wick 2 and Wonder Woman, alongside plenty of Amazon Originals exclusives including Jack Ryan, Good Omens and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. There’s something for everyone.
Black Friday 2019 FAQ: All your questions about Amazon answered
Amazon is one of the best known and most reliable retailers around, but should you have any questions about shopping at the online mega mart this Black Friday, we’ve answered five of the most common questions in the following FAQ section.
1) What is Amazon’s Returns Policy this Black Friday?
Amazon’s returns policy is the same on Black Friday as it is during the rest of the year.
Items bought directly from the retail giant get a 30-day window during which they can be returned for whatever reason, provided they’re unopened, though you’ll have to pay for the return postage if you simply decide you don’t want something. Goods that are faulty or damaged are always free to return to Amazon.
The nuance of shopping with Amazon is that it’s as much a marketplace as a standalone storefront these days, so you may find that you’re actually buying something from second and third-party retailers when shopping on Amazon.
This means that Amazon’s own 30 day return policy isn’t necessarily the same as the terms and conditions of its retail partners. In our experience, most of the sellers that operate on the Amazon Marketplace will honour Amazon’s 30-day window to keep things simple, but it’s important to read the fine print lest you get an unexpected surprise in a few weeks time.
Also, any items bought as used through these avenues must be returned in the same condition as they arrived, with no evidence of extra usage.
Once you understand the ins and out of the return policy you’re dealing with, returning stuff to Amazon is relatively straightforward, with options including pre-paid Royal Mail labels, local Collect+ stores, Amazon lockers and more.
A final point that’s worth noting is that customers with a subscription to Amazon Prime get free returns, just like they get free deliveries, so this is another good reason to consider signing up for a free 30-day Prime trial during the Black Friday sales event.
2) Does Amazon offer a Student Discount during Black Friday?
Amazon offers a bargainous student discount scheme in the form of its special Prime Student membership.
Prime Student is heavily subsidised at £39 a year or just £3.99 a month, compared to the full cost of £79 per annum, but most usefully for Black Friday is the extended free 6-month trial period on offer to those in education.
This comes with all the usual perks of Prime membership, including the major delivery benefits, plus access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Wardrobe and Prime Photos. That’s just the start of the Prime Student savings, though, with the programme also netting you extra money off everything from books, laptops and stationary to coffee machines, bedding and household essentials.
There’s even an equivalent to ‘dad dancing’ in the form of additional discounts on condoms, plus a special Prime Music Unlimited Student tier that comes with its own free 6-month trial.
You’ll need to be able to prove you’re a student to sign up, of course, but provided you’re eligible we reckon it’s a no-brainer to take advantage of Prime Student during Black Friday and beyond.
3) Does Amazon offer a trade-in scheme for Black Friday?
There’s no Amazon trade-in scheme to speak of during Black Friday – or at any other time of the year, for that matter. It used to operate one, but unfortunately it was discontinued back in 2015.
The best option you have is selling your stuff on Amazon Marketplace. This might not be as straightforward as the trade-in initiatives offered by some other retailers, but it can still help you turn your old possessions into shiny new ones, albeit with a little more effort.
4) Does Amazon offer click and collect for Black Friday?
Click and collect is a really useful option to have when shopping during Black Friday, as it means you don’t have to worry about being home to receive deliveries – you just head out to pick up your stuff at a time of your choosing.
Historically, Amazon hasn’t been on a par with High Street retailers when it comes to offering this convenience, but more recently it has rolled out a couple of equivalents in the UK: Amazon Lockers and Amazon Counters.
Amazon Lockers are pretty self-explanatory: they’re physical containers where Amazon leaves your packages instead of dropping them off at a specific address. The retailer’s usual delivery options are available for this service, so you can wait a couple of days and have your stuff sent for free – or pay a few quid extra and get it there faster.
Typically, they can be found near where people live, work, or generally frequent – bigger supermarkets, shopping centres and train stations being some of the places Amazon Lockers are commonly found. The kiosks themselves operate on a self-service basis, which means you’re sent a unique collection code as part of your order and then simply input it into the locker’s interface to access to your goodies.
The Amazon Counter option works along similar click and collect principles. Orders get delivered to community stalwarts like local newsagents and post offices, after which they’re collected by the lucky recipient from the counter area. This is great if you crave real human interaction or live somewhere further afield, but can entail some queuing at busier times – the Black Friday and holiday shopping period being one obvious example.
Prime members enjoy their usual benefits when ordering to an Amazon Locker or Counter, which is another reason to consider a free 30-day Prime trial for the duration of the holiday shopping period.
5) Amazon delivery options for Black Friday 2019 explained
Amazon provides a wide range of delivery options to help you get your order as quickly as possible both during the Black Friday period and throughout the year.
Its flagship offering is one-day delivery, which is free to Prime subscribers and costs £4.99 (for home delivery) or £2.99 (Amazon Locker/Counter drops) for non-members. It’s available seven days a week, including Sundays, though some public holidays are non-delivery days.
In certain instances, same-day delivery is also available for the same fee, while nominated day delivery lets you choose a 24-hour window for your package to be delivered and is free for Prime members or £4.99 otherwise – though select ‘large goods’ qualify for free delivery regardless of your account status.
All three are super convenient and have long bailed people out of forgotten birthdays, helping to make Amazon the go-to online retailer in the process.
Those after a more exact delivery can opt for Priority Delivery, which sees goods arrive either in the morning or evening two days after an order is placed. It costs £5.99 no matter who you are, or you can narrow the delivery time to a four hour window for select larger goods (£10 weekdays/£15 weekends). Similarly, Express Delivery: (£4.49 for Prime subscribers; £6.49 for non-members) can be selected if you want something to arrive by 1pm the day after purchase.
Some items aren’t offered on one-day delivery, in which case Amazon ships using what it calls expedited delivery. This takes between one and three days from the point of order to arrive and is free to Prime members or £5.49 for non-subscribers.
Finally, there’s the rarely mentioned Standard Delivery or Standard Pickup Delivery, which is solely for non-Prime customers. The finer print of this tier is as follows:
- The price varies depending on the type of product you’re buying. Media (e.g. books, CDs, DVDs, etc.) cost £2.99 while other products come out at £4.99 . For items small enough to fit in an envelope, however, this option can cost as little as 99p.
- For Standard Pickup Delivery, there is a flat rate of £1.99.
- Book orders of £10 are eligible for free Standard Delivery.
- Any orders at or above £20 also get you free Standard Delivery.
- These orders take between 1 to 2 days after dispatch to turn up.
By now, you probably get the idea: Amazon is quite keen to sell you a Prime membership and seriously prioritises deliveries to these customers as a result. That’s not necessarily a bad thing during Black Friday, though, as anyone with a valid UK bank account can sign up for a free 30-day Prime trial and take advantage of Amazon’s dizzying array of delivery options.
Why should I shop with Amazon on Black Friday?
First there’s the plethora of regular deals, which last throughout the whole of Black Friday week and on to Cyber Monday. Then there are the more exciting ‘Lightning Deals’: limited-time promotions, only available in small numbers, which will surely keep you on your toes.
There’ll also be major savings on Amazon’s own products. You can expect to see Fire Sticks, Echo speakers and Kindles all going at a discount. At any rate, they’ll be as cheap as they’re going to be until next year’s Prime Day.
Of course, Amazon doesn’t like to fire off all its offers in one go. Before Black Friday hits, there’ll be a good few weeks of reductions building up to it. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend you splash out immediately on these though – the largest deals on the best products tend to come on the big day itself. Fortunately, you’ll have us to guide you through and help you pick out the offers that are worth your while.
As well as access to an incredible range, shopping with Amazon comes with perks, though most of these require Amazon Prime. If you’ve been teetering on the edge of buying a Prime membership, you could pick worse months to take the plunge. As well as the usual free next-day delivery, during the Black Friday period you’ll unlock access to a number of exclusive deals.
If you aren’t keen to pay for Prime but don’t want to miss out, you could always wait until the start of November to make good use of Amazon’s 30-day free trial. Just make sure, if you’re going down that route that you do remember to cancel before it expires.

As far as your calendar is concerned, Black Friday is over. Thankfully retailers don’t agree and Cyber Monday is just around the corner. Amazon have slashed the price of this Shark NV601UK Lift-Away Upright Vacuum Cleaner in half. It’s just £125.99, down from £249.99.
We’ve been scouring the web for the best Black Friday deals. This one from Amazon offers up a great quality vacuum cleaner for less.
We’ve been consistently impressed by Shark vacuum cleaners. Currently, Shark are the only brand really going toe-to-toe with Dyson in terms of quality and performance.
When we got hands on with an almost identical model from Shark, the NV680UKT, we were impressed by the design and features of the cleaner. The One series is Motorola’s mid-tier series of phones. One series handsets are usually slightly more expensive than their G siblings as a result. But thanks to this stellar Motorola One Zoom deal the gap in price is a lot smaller than normal this Black Friday. The deal lets you pick up a Motorola One Zoom for a modest £329.99 – a 13% saving on the phone’s regular price.
If you have the cash and care about camera tech, we’d recommend grabbing the One Zoom. The phone comes with a quad-camera system that’s similar to the ones you’ll see on flagship phones close to twice the price. The setup earned the One Zoom a place as one of Trusted Reviews favourite mid-range phones earlier this year.

Is this the best PS4 deal of Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019?
Black Friday is over as far as your calendar is concerned, but the deals are still rolling in as we approach Cyber Monday. Now, you can get a PlayStation 4 in ‘Glacier White’, with a second controller, Death Stranding and Blu-ray movie for just £219.99.

Black Friday sees record $7.4B in online sales, $2.9B spent using smartphones
Following swiftly on the heels of a Thanksgiving that broke records with $4.2 billion in online sales, Black Friday also hit a new high, although it just fell short of predictions. According to analytics from Adobe, consumers spent $7.4 billion online yesterday buying goods online via computers, tablets and smartphones. The figures were up by $1.2 billion on Black Friday 2018, but they actually fell short of Adobe’s prediction for the day, which was $7.5 billion.
Salesforce, meanwhile, said that its checks revealed $7.2 billion in sales (even further off the forecast).
Popular products included toys on the themes of Frozen 2, L.O.L Surprise, and Paw Patrol. Best selling video games included FIFA 20, Madden 20, and Nintendo Switch. And top electronics, meanwhile, included Apple Laptops, Airpods, and Samsung TVs.
A full $2.9 billion of Black Friday sales happened on smartphones. These conversions are growing faster than online shopping overall, so we are now approaching a tipping point where soon smartphones might outweigh web-based purchases through computers.
“With Christmas now rapidly approaching, consumers increasingly jumped on their phones rather than standing in line,” said Taylor Schreiner, Principal Analyst & Head of Adobe Digital Insights, in a statement. “Even when shoppers went to stores, they were now buying nearly 41% more online before going to the store to pick up. As such, mobile represents a growing opportunity for smaller businesses to extend the support they see from consumers buying locally in-store on Small Business Saturday to the rest of the holiday season. Small Business Saturday will accelerate sales for those retailers who can offer unique products or services that the retail giants can’t provide.”
Adobe Analytics tracks sales in real-time for 80 of the top 100 US retailers, covering 55 million SKUs and some 1 trillion transactions during the holiday sales period. Salesforce uses Commerce Cloud data and insights covering more than half a billion global shoppers across more than 30 countries.
One of the reasons we may be seeing slightly less fervent sales than the analysts had predicted is because the holiday sales season is starting earlier and earlier. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving when many people have days off, has for a long time been seen by retailers as the start of holiday shopping season. That has changed as retailers hope to catch more sales over a longer period of time.
As more people shop, they are also shopping for more expensive items. Adobe noted that Average Order Value was $168, a new record level yesterday for Black Friday, up 5.9% on a year ago.
Smartphone sales were up 21% over last year and those who were not buying were, as a start, browsing, with whopping 61% of all online traffic to retailers coming from smartphones, up 15.8% since last year.
As with yesterday, e-commerce “giants” with over $1 billion in sales annually were doing better than smaller sites: they had more smartphone sales, and 66% conversions on browsers on smartphones, Adobe said. They have overall also seen a 62% boost in sales this season, versus 27% for smaller retailers.
As with the Thanksgiving sales patterns — when bigger retailers also appeared to do better than their smaller counterparts — there are a couple of reasons for this. One is that the bigger sites have a wider selection of goods and can afford to take hits with deep discounts on some items, in order to lure users in to add other items to their shopping cars that are not as deeply discounted. Or, bigger online retailers can simply afford to give bigger markdowns.
The other is that the bigger stores often have more flexible delivery options. Adobe noted that those using click-and-collect orders, or buy online, pick up in store / curbside grew by 43 percent.
The story is not all rosy for big retailers, however. Edison Trends notes that some big platforms are actually seeing very mixed results this time around.
It will be interesting to see how and if patterns change for smaller retailers on Sunday, which is being dubbed “small business Sunday” to focus on buying from smaller and independent shops. Shoppers have already spent $470 million, and Adobe believes it will pass the $3 billion mark. Cyber Monday, the biggest of them all, is expected to make $9.4 billion in sales.

Snapseed tutorial: How to edit a photo with your smartphone
Snapseed is among the best photo editor apps around. Google purchased the company responsible for making Snapseed back in 2012. Since then, its popularity has continued to increase. It is known for its simplicity and abundant feature set. The app is also free, so you might as well give it a go. The only tricky part is learning how to use Snapseed, which is what this post is all about.
Modern smartphones can take stunning photos, but any photographer will tell you taking a shot is only half the battle. Editing is a fundamental part of the photography process, as it can turn good shots into stunning imagery.
We will take you through the editing process of a single image shot with a smartphone, using the most important settings. We won’t cover all options available in Snapseed. That would require more time and involvement. Instead, these Snapseed image editing tips and tricks are meant to get you started with the basics, upon which you can improve as you learn more about editing and photography.

Photo shot with a smartphone
I wanted the image to be a general photo any person can shoot, so I took a quick snapshot of a wooden statue I keep at home. No overthinking, no lights, no reflectors, no nothing. This is a simple shot we can turn into something awesome through the power of photo editing.
1. Consider Snapseed’s presets and filters
I am no fan of presets or filters, but there is no denying they make life easier than learning a plethora of editing parameters. After importing an image into Snapseed, you will see a tab at the lower-left corner that says LOOKS. Tap on it and look through Snapseed’s filters.
In addition, you can go to the TOOLS tab and find the HDR Scape, Glamour Glow, Drama, Vintage, Grainy Film, Grunge, Retrolux, Noir, Portrait, Lens Blur, and other special effects.
These automated edits may be all you require, or it could be a good starting point you can further fine-tune. As for me, I will keep the original image and edit to my liking.
2. Fixing exposure
The first step to take is to fix exposure to your liking. Your phone isn’t always smart enough to correctly measure lighting. Even if it does, you might want an image to be darker or brighter for creative reasons. Snapseed has a way to fix this problem. Tap on the TOOLS tab and select Tune Image.

You can edit parameters like brightness, contrast, saturation, highlights, shadows, and more. Drag your finger up and down to select which parameter to edit. Then drag your finger left and right to edit whichever parameter you chose.
I want to make the image a little brighter, to make everything look more clear, but I also wanted exposure to be uniform across the frame. To accomplish this I lowered the contrast and highlights, while increasing the shadows. Being at the beach, I felt a warmer tone would also give the photo a special touch, so I increased the warmth by a bit.
Ambiance is a special type of contrast that can balance exposure in a photo. It can create an unnatural look if overdone, so I usually don’t play around with it too much. I use it very slightly when I do. This time I increased it by 10.
Here are the changes so far. Not too shabby, but there is much more that can be done to improve it.
3. Fix white balance using Snapseed
Fixing the white balance is usually one of my first edits. Cameras often read lighting wrong, which creates odd hues or tints. Make sure you find the balance between blue and yellow, as well green and magenta. Alternatively, you can get creative and give images a hue or tint that wasn’t there when the shot was taken. Color theory is an important part of photography.

I want to keep this image more traditional and I already added some warmth in previous edits. In this case I will simply add a bit of magenta to the tint, just because that purple touch gives beach photos a special look.

4. Crop, Rotate, and Perspective
I don’t have an issue with perspective here, or want to crop, but Snapseed has the option for those who want it. The perspective parameter can make a photo straight if you notice you shot it a bit crooked. Cropping can also be convenient for fixing composition or cutting off unwanted elements.
In this case I will simply use the rotate function because the horizon line is not leveled.
5. Selective edits using the brush tool
The brush function can be used to make selective edits to your image. I would like to add a more dramatic look to the sky, ocean, and sand in the background, without affecting the wooden statue. To do this I will go to TOOLS and tap on Brush within Snapseed’s parameters. This section will give me the option to locally edit exposure, temperature, saturation, and more. In this case I want to saturate the background, so I will select Saturation and bring the parameter up to 10. After doing this, one can simply drag a finger over the areas that need change.
Tap on the eye icon to see the affected areas highlighted in red. If you accidentally edited sections you didn’t want to, bring the saturation level down to zero (labeled “eraser”) and drag your finger over the affected areas.
6. Get rid of unwanted objects using Snapseed
Have you ever taken an amazing picture only to find out it was ruined by an ugly piece of trash? It happens to the best of us. Healing makes it possible to highlight objects or elements you want gone. Snapseed’s smart fill then takes information from the object’s surroundings and intelligently cleans the picture. I will get rid of some of the seaweed in the sand and the rocks to the right of the image.
To do this go to TOOLS and select the Healing option. You can zoom in and out to get a better look at imperfections and change the size of your healing brush. When ready, simply drag your finger over whatever you want to remove and the application will work its magic. Keep in mind it’s not always perfect, especially if you want to remove elements that take a large part of the frame.
Snapseed editing results
We have been showing you the step-by-step development of the photo, but seeing the original shot compared to the fully edited one is something else. The differences are simply astounding.
We can’t stress the importance of editing enough, especially as these tool become more available and user-friendly. This photo was produced from beginning to end using only a smartphone. The Google Pixel 3 XL has an outstanding camera, but there are plenty of phones with amazing cameras. It’s also worth mentioning you don’t need to spend too much on a camera phone to get good results.
